Biography

Theo is a Venezuelan artist who resides and works between Caracas and Europe. As a self-taught artist and tattooist, he explores in his works popular social classes, subcultures, folklore, and tradition. Inspired by Art Brut, he creates a visual language that addresses various facets, exploring reflections ranging from the artistic to the social, cultural, idiosyncratic, Latin American syncretism, the breaking of established norms, and Caribbean flavor.

His creative approach diverges from academic currents and is based on deep personal motivation: “Since I was a child, my way of creating has always been very sincere with ‘raw’ strokes and materials that were within my reach.” He uses unconventional materials in the plastic arts and develops his own experimental techniques to reflect mental states, actions, and scenes arising from his personal experiences.

He has exhibited his work in Mexico City in the solo exhibition “Del Caribe, con Amor” (2022), in Zurich, in the solo exhibitions “Marginal” (2020) and “Protégeme del mal” (2019) and in Caracas, in the collective exhibitions “Somos Caribes” (2018) and “Caligrafía y Color” (2016), among others.
